Terms of use and disclaimer

Plain terms for a free tool: use it to plan, rely on your agency for the decision.

An estimate, not a determination

The figures on Paid Leave Calc are estimates produced from published program rules and the information you enter. Your actual weekly benefit, the weeks you are paid and whether you qualify at all are decided by the agency or insurer that administers your program — for example California’s EDD, New Jersey’s Division of Temporary Disability and Family Leave Insurance, or Washington’s Employment Security Department — after it reviews your wage records and your claim. Their decision controls whenever it differs from anything shown here.

Why your official figure can differ

Not legal, tax or financial advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice, tax advice or advice about your employment rights. Job protection during leave depends on federal FMLA, your state’s law and your employer’s policies, which can apply differently from the wage-replacement benefit. For a dispute, an appeal or a question about your rights at work, contact the agency or a qualified professional.

Using the site

You may use the calculator and quote its results for personal, non-commercial purposes, and you may link to any page. Please do not reproduce the site wholesale, frame it, or scrape it at a rate that disrupts service. The program data behind the calculator is drawn from public government sources, which remain the authoritative record.

No warranty

We work hard to keep every figure correct and dated, and we correct errors when they are reported. The site is nevertheless provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and to the extent the law allows the publisher is not liable for decisions made on the basis of an estimate. Before you commit to a leave length or a return date that depends on the money, confirm the benefit with your agency.

Changes

If these terms change, the date below changes with them. The former disclaimer page now points here.
