Privacy
Short version: the pay, dates and family details you type into the calculator are processed in your browser and are never sent to us. Here is everything our server does keep.
Calculator inputs stay on your device
The paid leave calculation runs entirely in JavaScript on the page. Your salary, quarterly wages, leave dates, number of dependents and any official figures you enter are not transmitted, logged or stored by us. When you use “Share this estimate”, the inputs are written into the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of an address to a server, so a shared link does not put your numbers in any log — but anyone you send the link to can read them, so share it the way you would share the numbers themselves.
Anonymous page events
To learn whether the calculator is actually useful, each page sends a small first-party event to our own server (no third party is involved). An event record contains only:
- the time and date, and the site name;
- the page path (never the part after
?or#); - the event name — for example a page view, that a calculation was completed, that a state was chosen, a share, a print, or that you scrolled most of the page;
- a short label such as the two-letter state code you selected;
- a random identifier created fresh on every page load, which lets us tie events from one page view together and is not stored on your device;
- the host name of the site that referred you (not the full address), a coarse source category (search, referral, direct), the country your request came from as reported by our hosting network, and whether the screen is phone-sized or desktop-sized.
We do not store your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, cookies or any persistent identifier, and we never record what you typed. Automated browsers are filtered out before anything is written. There is no consent banner because there is nothing on your device to consent to.
Correction reports
If you send a report from the contact page, we store what you chose to send: the kind of problem, the page address, your message and, only if you gave one, a reply address. We do not attach your IP address or browser details to it. Reply addresses are used only to answer that report.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any network provider, Cloudflare processes connection data to deliver pages and stop attacks; that processing is governed by Cloudflare’s own policies and is not used by us to identify visitors. We load no fonts, scripts, images or trackers from any other domain.
Retention and your choices
Event records are kept as aggregate statistics. To have a correction report or reply address deleted, send a report asking for it, quoting roughly when you wrote. Because event records hold no identifier tied to you, there is no way — for you or for us — to pick out your page views among them.
